Full Mouth Rehabilitation
Understanding the Basics of
The term “full mouth rehabilitation” is usually used to refer to a dental treatment plan that involves multiple restorative and cosmetic dental procedures, and is intended to treat the majority of your teeth.
Basically, it’s a complete rehabilitation of your mouth and your teeth, intended to restore the natural beauty and its function of your smile. After your treatment is complete, you will be able to chew, speak, eat, and laugh just like you used to be able to.
Some of the common treatments used in full mouth rehabilitation include tooth extractions, dental crowns and bridges, dental implants and implant-retained dentures/bridges, dental veneers, dental bonding, fillings, and even orthodontic treatment, in some cases.
Each case is unique, so Dr. Will will help you learn more about what you can expect when you come into our office for your consultation.
How Full Mouth Rehabilitation Works
The Treatment Process
Each full mouth rehabilitation is completely unique and customized to your particular goals and needs. Your treatment plan will begin with a consultation with Dr. Will Jones at our dental office in Brentwood.
Once Dr. Will has examined your mouth, he will determine the treatments that may be right for you. If you have multiple cavities and infected teeth, for example, he may recommend root canals, fillings, and dental crowns. If you’re also missing a few of your teeth, he may recommend a dental bridge or dental implants to replace them.
The proper combination of treatments will vary based on your budget, your oral health, and many other factors. Once you and Dr. Will have agreed upon a plan, he will develop a treatment timeline, and the process of your full mouth rehabilitation will begin. This could take just a few weeks, in some cases, or it could take a year or longer to complete all of the required procedures.
Why Would I Need
Full Mouth Rehabilitation?
Full mouth rehabilitation is usually only required if you have extremely serious oral health issues. For example, if you have untreated tooth decay in the majority of your teeth, you may need a full-mouth rehabilitation.
Extensive periodontal disease can also require the extraction and replacement of many of your natural teeth. Severe oral trauma like a major car accident may also irreversibly damage your teeth, requiring the restoration or replacement of the majority of your natural teeth.
